Oil Pump Shim / Pressure Regulation / Oil Pressure

To increase oil pressure in the system by increasing spring preload, thereby raising control pressure.

Special feature: The shims are hand-crafted by us and are not standard washers from automotive accessories suppliers!

Available variants:

• 3 mm: Fitted as standard on some Audi models.
• 4 mm: Increases oil pressure by approx. 0.15–0.2 bar.
• 5 mm: Increases oil pressure by approx. 0.2–0.5 bar.

Selecting the correct shim:

• 5 mm: For vehicles with low oil pressure at idle and high wear at operating temperature (80–90 °C).
• 4 mm: For vehicles with normal oil pressure and normal wear at operating temperature.
• 3 mm: For those who are unsure – this thickness works without issue and was used by Audi themselves on some models.

Note for oil pressure enthusiasts: There is nothing to be gained from always choosing the 5 mm version as a blanket approach! The type of oil used and its viscosity significantly influences oil pressure (e.g. 5WXYZ / 10WXYZ). If in doubt, go one step "thinner".
