Our solution for building power in the diesel block using the 92.8mm Motorsport crankshaft. This increases the displacement to approximately 2.5L – while retaining the engine's rev-happy character and taking advantage of the significantly more rigid diesel block (engine speeds up to 8,500 RPM are achievable).
With this KIT we bridge the gap to the 2.5L conversion using 22mm gudgeon pins. Beyond a certain power output and engine speed, the undersized 20mm gudgeon pin tends to bend or cause the piston pin bosses to elongate – becoming oval. At even higher power levels, the OEM 20V bearing webs tend to crack; the diesel block offers significantly greater rigidity in this regard.
Please note: the diesel block must be surface-milled by exactly 1.35mm to ensure the pistons do not sit below deck.
The KIT consists of:
Motorsport piston 5inline 81.5 mm to 83.0 mm (please select the correct bore size) + Motorsport H-beam con-rod 159mm / 22mm. Compression ratio: 8.5:1. This KIT has already been used to achieve over 1,000 PS. Arguably the best con-rod and piston combination currently available.
